Polania Flamethrower — specialized anti-infantry units of the Republic of Polania, designed to eliminate enemy infantry hiding in fortifications or buildings. Their main weapon is a flamethrower that creates a flame cone, ignoring cover and dealing significant damage to structures. Introduced into the army arsenal as highly specialized units requiring tactical support.

Appearance and Equipment

Flamethrower units wear standard Polanian rifleman uniforms, supplemented with fire protection elements:

  • Dense fire-resistant apron with reinforced left sleeve.
  • Heavy leather gloves.
  • Gas mask to prevent inhalation of smoke and fuel vapors.

Their weaponry includes a compact flamethrower with a large fuel tank mounted on the back. The weapon design is minimalist, ensuring mobility despite the weight of the equipment.

Tactical Role

Capabilities

  • Breaching Defenses: Primary task is to eliminate enemy infantry in trenches, bunkers, or buildings. The flamethrower ignores cover protection, dealing direct damage.
  • Structure Damage: Highly effective against buildings, including fortified structures.
  • Area Effect: Flame cone affects multiple targets simultaneously, useful against clustered units.

Advantages

  • Massive damage to buildings.
  • Flamethrower ignores cover and building protection.
  • Flame cone damages groups of infantry.

Limitations

  • Vulnerability in Close Combat: Low movement speed and long reload time make flamethrower units easy targets for machine gunners, mechs (such as Sd. KS 49 "Grimbart"), and mobile units.
  • Support Dependency: Requires cover from vehicles or infantry due to short attack range (up to 25 meters).
  • Ineffectiveness Against Armor: Useless against exoskeletons, light armored vehicles, and air targets.

Disadvantages

  • Cannot be trained in Polania; can only be armed from weapon crates or field kits.
  • Useless against even lightly armored units like exoskeletons and mechs.
  • Deals damage over time, and the flame cone is fixed in place: fast units can avoid damage by moving quickly.
  • Short range and relatively long reload time.
  • Slower than standard infantry.
  • Vulnerable to machine guns and anti-infantry units.

Interesting Facts

  • Unit motto: "Does your butt feel hot?" (Pol.: "Co, dupa się pali?") — a reference to their tactic of burning enemy positions.
  • Flamethrower units are available only at the second level of Barracks technological development (T2).
  • In early game versions, their fire dealt damage even through walls, but the mechanic was later adjusted.

Arts

Change History

  • 2025 Update: Flamethrower units removed from the list of trainable units for Polania and Saxony. Training available only in Rusviet barracks.
  • Weapon via Equipment: Players can equip infantry with flamethrowers by picking them up from dead enemies or finding them in weapon crates.
