Saxon Engineer — infantry unit of the Saxon Empire in the alternative universe of Iron Harvest 1920+. These specialists are responsible for building fortifications, repairing equipment, and infrastructure, playing a key role in ensuring the combat effectiveness of the army.
Equipment
Engineers, dressed in stormtrooper uniforms with leather vests, goggles, and tool packs, combine engineering skills with basic military training. They are armed with Mauser C96 "Red 9" pistols.
Combat Use
Their main task is to erect buildings, install defensive structures (sandbags, barbed wire, mines), and perform field repairs of mechs directly on the battlefield. Despite their limited combat effectiveness due to weak weaponry, they are indispensable for creating rear infrastructure.
Tactics
The unit demonstrates high construction speed but requires cover due to vulnerability to infantry and artillery attacks. Engineers are 30% slower than standard stormtroopers, which complicates rapid retreat under fire. Like any other infantry unit, engineers can change their infantry class by picking up weapons from the ground. Their key construction capabilities include:
Veteran Status
Veteran units gain access to advanced fortifications such as minefields and reinforced firing points.
Interesting Details
- The engineers' weapon is a modified version of the Mauser C96 pistol with 9×19 mm cartridges, used in Prussia during the Great War.
- Dialogues emphasize the disciplined nature of Saxon engineers, who condemn "unworthy behavior" when repeatedly asked to perform tasks.
- Historically, the prototype of the Saxony Empire was the Kingdom of Saxony, which became part of the German Empire in 1871.[1]
